How to clean your Boema coffee machine?
Cleaning a Boema commercial coffee machine regularly and thoroughly is essential for hygiene, optimal taste, and maintaining equipment longevity. Here’s a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to clean a commercial coffee machine properly:
1. Turn Off and Unplug the Boema Coffee Machine (if applicable)
-
For safety, switch off and unplug or isolate the power source before cleaning.
2. Clean and Flush Group Heads
-
Remove portafilters and rinse them under warm water.
-
Use a cleaning brush to scrub away coffee residue from the shower screen inside the group head.
-
Insert a blind basket (filter basket without holes) into the portafilter, add a teaspoon of Boema coffee machine cleaner (such as Cafiza), lock it in, and run a backflush routine:
-
Run water for 10 seconds, pause, repeat several times.
-
Empty, rinse, and repeat with clean water to flush cleaner residue out.
-
3. Steam Wand Cleaning
-
After each use, wipe the steam wand with a clean, damp cloth.
-
Purge steam wand by briefly activating steam to expel milk residue from inside the wand.
-
At the end of the day:
-
Use warm water to thoroughly clean steam wands.
-
Soak the steam wand tip in warm water or cleaning solution if residue persists.
-
4. Drip Tray and Drain
-
Remove and empty the drip tray, washing it with warm, soapy water.
-
Rinse thoroughly and dry before reassembling.
5. Portafilters and Filter Baskets
-
Wash daily with warm water and mild detergent or coffee machine cleaning solution.
-
Rinse thoroughly, ensuring no soap residue remains.
6. Wipe Exterior Surfaces
-
Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap or cleaning spray specifically designed for stainless steel.
-
Dry thoroughly with a microfiber towel to prevent streaking.
